About the Community
As you may know, the owners of Forest Oaks Golf Course have decided to sell their property. The Forest Oaks property is zoned residential, and whoever purchases the property is legally allowed to build up to 900 homes on the site.
For years, golf play has been on the decline in the United States and the cost to maintain a course is no longer financially feasible. As a result, the Forest Oaks Golf Course owners have received several offers from major developers to build on the course. The course owners selected Mattamy Homes due to our successful track record in golf conversion projects, our commitment to working with the community, and our overall plan to improve the entire neighborhood for the future.
The proposed residential project preserves over 60% of the land as open space, lakes, and greenways. For-sale single-family homes and townhomes that are compatible with the existing character of the Lucerne Lakes neighborhoods will be built. By right, a developer could construct up to 900 homes on the property. However, our project is proposing 450 homes, half of what is legally allowed. All-access points to our project will be from Charleston Street and Lucerne Lakes Blvd to not adversely impact any internal roads or existing neighborhoods.
The golf course is zoned for residential use, and Mattamy can move forward with the redevelopment by-right. We meet the required zoning while preserving open space and limiting density on the site.
